Gómez was Brought up in Unlingen, an Upper Swabian village and is of German-Spanish descent (his father is a Spaniard from Granada and his mother is German). Born in Reus, Tarragona, Catalonia, Cuenca joined FC Barcelona's La Masia in 2003, aged just 12. Halfway through his third year youth, however, he returned home and joined a local CF Reus Deportiu.


Cuenca finished his formation with CF Damm and Barcelona, rejoining the latter in 2009. He made his senior debuts in the 2010-11 season, being loaned to yet another club Catalonia, CE Sabadell FC in the third division.

Diego Milito started playing at Argentine first division team Racing Club in 1999, where he won the 2001 Apertura tournament. At the beginning of 2004, Milito moved to Italian second division Genoa.
